FAQs about paying for a Pay in 4 plan

You can only make payments from eligible Chase accounts. Here are some ways to make a payment:

  • During the setup process, automatic payments will already be turned on and the amount due (including any past due amounts or late fees) will be paid on each scheduled due date.
  • You can also make a payment from the Chase Pay in 4 dashboard.
  • You can also choose to make a payment from your plan details.

You can make early or partial payments at any time. Make sure your full current amount due is paid by the due date to avoid late fees.

Keep in mind: Your payments are made in real-time, so they can't be changed or canceled once submitted. Payments must be received by 11:59 PM ET to be applied the same day.

After you set up a new Chase Pay in 4 plan, it'll take 8 weeks to pay your plan in full when you make on-time payments every 2 weeks. You can pay off your Chase Pay in 4 balance in full or make additional one-time payments at any time. There’s no penalty for paying off your plan balance early.

If you miss a payment, we'll add a $5.00 late fee to your current amount due. You won't be able to set up any new Chase Pay in 4 plans until you make a payment.

If you have automatic payments turned on and the payment fails on the due date, we’ll continue to try to process the automatic payment. If we’re still unable to process the automatic payment after 3 days, you’ll need to make a one-time payment. Any remaining payments due will still be enrolled in automatic payments.

Keep in mind: You won’t be charged more than 1 late fee for the same missed payment and you won’t be charged more than 2 late fees for each Pay in 4 plan.

No. Since payments are made in real-time, you can’t change or cancel them. And once you set up a Chase Pay in 4 plan, you can’t change your payment schedule. This includes your automatic payment schedule (those payments are processed according to the original payment schedule). You can turn off automatic payments, but you’ll still need to make payments by your scheduled due dates to avoid $5.00 late fees.

Keep in mind: You can choose to pay off your Pay in 4 plan at any time—there’s no penalty for paying off your plan balance early.

Only eligible Chase accounts can be used to make a payment at this time. For automatic payments, you can choose which Chase account you make payments from.

You can manage your automatic payments from the Chase Pay in 4 summary or plan details screen, as well as from the one-time payment screen.

Keep in mind: We don’t currently accept cash or credit card payments for Pay in 4 plans.

You may have been charged a $5.00 late fee because:

  • You missed a payment
  • Your checking account balance was too low, and after multiple attempts to process your payment, your payment still failed
  • You made a partial payment without paying the remaining balance by the due date

Keep in mind: You won’t be charged more than 1 late fee for the same missed payment. You won’t be charged more than 2 late fees for each Pay in 4 plan.

Yes, you can make a partial payment at any time. However, the total remaining payment due must be paid by your due date to avoid a $5.00 late fee.

No, at this time, you can only schedule same-day, one-time payments.

Keep in mind: You can set up automatic payments, which will be made on each due date, to avoid a $5.00 late fee.
