When a manufacturer’s warranty ends on an item you purchased, that may not be the end of the coverage. If you’re a Chase Freedom cardmember, the item may be eligible for Extended Warranty Protection. This protection benefit offers you coverage beyond the original warranty.
In this article, we’ll dive into the details of Chase Freedom Extended Warranty Protection.
How Chase Freedom Extended Warranty Protection works
Extended Warranty Protection is a benefit offered with Chase Freedom credit cards. The benefit extends the original manufacturer’s repair warranty on an eligible item by one additional year. This coverage includes what would have been covered under the original warranty and applies once the original warranty expires. Cardmembers receive this protection benefit when they use a Freedom credit card to purchase an eligible item.
For example, if a Chase Freedom cardmember buys an eligible item with a two-year warranty, Extended Warranty Protection extends the original warranty by one additional year. In this case, the cardmember would get a combined total of three years of coverage.
Extended Warranty Protection is secondary to any service contract you purchase or store provided warranty. That means this coverage begins once the cumulative coverage from any warranty and service contract expires. If the warranty and service contract provide a cumulative total of three years of coverage, there is no additional coverage under Extended Warranty Protection.
