How credit card benefits work
Some credit cards come with travel and purchase protections. These credit card benefits may allow you to get reimbursed for purchases under certain circumstances that are outlined in the card’s Guide to Benefits. You will need to use the credit card to make eligible purchases and meet other terms for these protections to apply.
The Chase Freedom family of cards come with several credit card benefits, including travel and purchase protections. The coverage amount available to you depend on whether you have a Chase Freedom Flex, Freedom Unlimited or Freedom Rise® Credit Card.
Chase Freedom credit card benefits explained
Some purchase and travel protections come with all Freedom Flex, Freedom Unlimited and Freedom Rise credit cards:
- Purchase Protection: Covers your eligible new purchases for 120 days (90 days for New York residents) from the date of purchase against damage, theft or involuntary and accidental parting up to $500 per item.
- Extended Warranty Protection: Extends the time period of the manufacturer’s U.S. warranty by an additional year, on eligible warranties of three years or less, up to four years from the date of purchase.
- Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance: You can be reimbursed up to $1,500 per covered traveler and $6,000 per trip for your pre-paid, non-refundable passenger fares, if your trip is canceled or cut short by sickness, severe weather or other covered situations.

Additional benefits for Chase Freedom Flex and Unlimited cardmembers
Both Chase Freedom Flex and Freedom Unlimited come with some additional credit card benefits:
- Auto Rental Coverage: Decline the rental company’s collision insurance and charge the entire rental cost to your card. Coverage provides reimbursement for theft and collision damage for most rental vehicles. In the U.S., coverage is secondary to your personal insurance.
- Travel and Emergency Assistance: If you run into a problem while traveling away from home, this benefit provides legal and medical referrals and access to other travel and emergency services. (You will be responsible for the cost of any goods or services obtained.)

Cell Phone Protection with Chase Freedom Flex
The Freedom Flex Credit Card offers Cell Phone Protection. This benefit may allow cardmembers to get up to $800 per claim and $1,000 per 12-month period in cell phone protection against covered theft or damage for cell phones listed on your monthly cell phone bill when you pay it with your eligible credit card. Maximum of 2 claims in a 12-month period with a $50 deductible per claim.
