How we pay for things is changing. When checking out online, it's common to see several options from payment apps to digital wallets. One of the newer ways to pay digitally is with Paze.
Paze, introduced to consumers in 2024, was created by seven of the nation's largest banks and allows you to pay at online merchants by using your email address linked to your bank accounts. Let's look a little more closely at how you can use and set up Paze.
How to use Paze
Paze is a digital payment platform that may be an option when checking out at online merchants. If Paze is an option, you’ll likely see it as a button on a check out page, much like you’d see options for Apple Pay, Google Pay or Venmo.
Because Paze is still a relatively new digital wallet, you may not see it as an online payment option; however, Paze continues to add new merchants to its system.
Unlike some digital payment options, Paze does not require you to create a new account, download an app or even enter your credit card numbers. Your Paze account is synced to the email address tied to your bank and credit card accounts; however, not all accounts may appear in Paze. Paze is only available to customers of participating banks and credit unions.
To use Paze, you’ll look for it as an option during checkout. Paze will ask you to verify your bank accounts using your email address. Eligible cards from participating financial institutions will automatically be displayed in Paze as long as they are connected with the email address you enter.
Chase and Paze
Paze was created with the backing of seven of the country’s largest banks, which collectively have more than 150 million accounts. Chase is one of the seven banks, so Chase credit and debit card users may be able to use Paze at participating merchants.
If you have Chase debit or credit card accounts, they will be displayed as payment options when you choose Paze. If you have multiple email addresses associated with different bank accounts, only the accounts associated with email address you enter in Paze will be shown.
How to set up Paze
The first time you use Paze, you’ll need to verify your identity. Here’s how to do that:
- Select Paze as a payment option.
- Enter your email address when prompted. You will want to use the one associated with the account you intend to pay with.
- Accept the terms and conditions to activate your Paze wallet.
- Enter your mobile number associated and Paze will send a verification code.
- Once you enter the verification code, you’ll see the payment options you have available in Paze.
- Choose the one you’d like to pay with (you can even make it your default payment) and complete your transaction.
For the first transaction, you’ll need to verify the three-digit code on the back of your card.
Modifying and opting out of Paze
Users have the ability to edit, update and delete their Paze info. To edit or verify the cards in your Paze account or switch your default cards, you may be able to make edits in your bank’s mobile app or account online. You can also visit mywallet.paze.com to edit your account info or opt out of Paze.
Benefits of using Paze
Paze has a notable distinction from other digital wallets. It has a security feature built in that results in you not having to enter your card information into the merchant’s site. In fact, the merchant doesn’t see your credit card numbers. Paze replaces your 16-digital card number with a token that is a unique mix of letters and numbers.
Using Paze also means:
- There is no app to download.
- You do not need new usernames or passwords to pay with Paze.
Card updates are seamless too. Your card numbers and info will automatedly update in Paze if your card has to be replaced because it’s expired, lost or stolen.
In summary
