1. Minority Business Enterprise (MBE)
Is this certification right for you?
If MBE certification is a goal for your business, now is a great time to get started. It can take some time to become fully ready to certify, but the more you do now, the stronger you’ll be when you apply.
- For the purposes of NMSDC’s program, more than half of your business must be owned and run by people who are at least one-quarter Asian Indian, Asian Pacific, Black, Hispanic or Native American.
- The business must be a for-profit enterprise physically located in the U.S. or its trust territories.
- Daily operations must be exercised by the minority ownership member(s).
- Register on the site of the regional council where you’re applying.
- Complete the online application.
- Organize a site visit.
- Await review and approval from the Certification Committee and the Board.
- You may submit a letter of appeal if the Board rejects your application.
- First-time certification fees range from $300 to $1,500 depending on your region and the size of your business.
