Six Senses Ibiza: The Party Island’s Hottest New Club Is a Wellness Retreat

If you’re looking around town for the Six Senses Ibiza, expecting to see it near Pacha Ibiza Nightclub and the party island’s other untz-untz clubs, you’ll be looking forever. The resort sits in the lesser-developed north, on a patch of quiet beachfront, surprisingly—then pleasantly—far from the more raucous attractions.
For Six Senses, a brand known for its holistic approach to wellness and rigorous sustainability standards, this bohemian island and its low-key, high-end sensibility was a natural fit—or, more precisely, a return to the island’s roots. The hotel leans deep into the mystical energy and nonconformist ethos that prevailed here in the 1960s and ’70s, accompanying a wave of young artists, musicians and free spirits. Six Senses embraces the modern-day nostalgia for that period, distancing itself from the rave culture that followed.
Make no mistake, though. This is boho culture seen through a contemporary lens. Yes, some guests go all-in on the sound-healing meditations and sunset rituals, but there are also more standard massages and facials at the enormous spa and science-based procedures available at the RoseBar, a longevity clinic that offers diagnostic testing; treatments like cryotherapy, vitamin injections and hyperbaric oxygen chamber therapy; as well as involved, multiday programs aimed at optimizing your health, custom-designed in concert with consultations on your medical history, nutrition, bespoke eating plans, intravenous infusions of vitamins and supplements, and exercise regimens.
If that all sounds a bit intense for a vacation, don’t fret. Your experience at Six Senses Ibiza is really what you make of it, whether you want to spend your days on the beach sunbathing in a cabana with mismatched cushions and ordering Spanish rosé via WhatsApp, wake up early for boot camp and sign up for every fitness class offered or something in between.
One thing is certain: There are enough nooks and crannies to explore, spa treatments to try and daily activities on offer (many of which, including e-bike tours and fermentation workshops, are complimentary) to keep you occupied and on-property for a whole week.
It also helps that the dining and drinking options are first-rate, in part thanks to the brand’s emphasis on “zero-kilometer” (hyperlocal) food, some of which is sourced from its own farm in nearby Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera. It starts at breakfast, at a huge buffet served in The Farmers’ Market, an indoor-outdoor restaurant in the main building, where in addition to standard fare like cakes, pastries, Spanish ham and local cheeses, there’s also a full spread of fresh juices and smoothies and even a gluten-free corner.
As one of the brand pillars, sustainability also shapes your experience here: If you so choose, you can learn more about the hotel’s efforts on a tour led by a member of the sustainability team or by visiting the aforementioned farm.
There’s the poolside Pharmacy Bar, perfect for midday light bites, where you can grab a glass of kombucha and sushi, and in the evening, you have three great restaurants to choose from: La Plaza serves Mediterranean cuisine on an outdoor terrace with olive trees; at The Orchard, expect freshly caught lobster over linguine, and pizza topped with jamón ibérico; and at the buzzy Beach Caves, set on a perch overlooking the shoreline, you’ll find contemporary Latin American fare. Lest you forget you’re in Ibiza, there’s Bar Secreto for late-night cocktails and even a hidden dance club and recording studio.

The Room
The 116 rooms and suites toe the line between earthy and sleek, with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the views, earth-toned color schemes and pale wood furniture with leather accents. Even the entry-level rooms are spacious, but for groups that need more space to spread out, there are residences with up to seven bedrooms, and mansions with up to 10—all of which have fully equipped kitchens, private pools and garages with space for two cars.
While all rooms have floral robes by Milan-based brand La DoubleJ, Marshall speakers and full-size bathroom amenities, some on the ground-floor rooms have direct access to the infinity pool, where others have a bathtub on the terrace; for a real surprise and delight moment, book the Cave Royale, which has its very own recording studio.
The Features
Spend your days on the beach, sunbathing in a cabana with mismatched cushions and ordering Spanish rosé via WhatsApp.
Don’t miss: There’s a whole slate of activities to choose from, including aerial yoga and mindfulness hikes; and for a truly special experience, it’s hard to beat the sound-healing meditation or cryotherapy sessions. Just be sure to sign up at check-in, since each activity has a limited capacity and the popular ones fill up fast.
Favorite features: The infinity pool overlooking the sea, which is fringed by cushy lounge chairs and macramé umbrellas. (The beach looks inviting, but unless you can snag one of the few canopied cabanas, there’s no shade.)
Can’t stop thinking about: The Body and Spirit Recovery massage. Created exclusively for the hotel, the signature treatment incorporates CBD oil and vibrations applied to the body via tuning fork.
The Lowdown
One thing you’ll find on nearly every menu across the resort: fresh-as-it-gets seafood.
The highly specific reason you’d come here: You work in finance but feel that your true calling is teaching yoga. Or you’re big in the music industry, but you’ve mellowed out a bit since having kids.
What are you packing? Multiple athleisure sets, a designer beach tote, Birkenstocks and, of course, a crystal necklace.
What are people drinking? Green juice and locally brewed kombucha by day, Ojo de Ibiza rosé by night.
The dish you’re re-creating at home: The spicy green gazpacho at The Beach Caves. Made with tomatillos, it’s bright and refreshing with just a hint of a kick.
Are guests staying in or going out? Staying in, for the most part. The families are hanging out by the infinity pool; adults are sunbathing on the rocky beach, where mismatched cushions are laid out between canopied daybeds. Those looking for nocturnal entertainment will find it at Bar Secreto or the hidden dance club, Xarraca Room. Sometimes the hotel also hosts DJs or concerts on the beach.
The family-friendly amenity that’s really for the parents: The two family-oriented Beach Pools, decked out by Veuve Clicquot and featuring a food truck that serves burgers and buffalo wings.
The Perfect Stay
Rise and Shine
Wake up early and greet the day with a pranayama session on the rocky beach or a vinyasa class at the yoga studio.
Morning
After your sun salutations, head over to The Farmers’ Market for a protein shake, some chia-seed pudding and the Avoquit Benedict, which comes on sourdough made with ancient xeixa flour and served with peas, a poached egg and hollandaise. Or try a typical Spanish breakfast of pan con tomate, perhaps topped with some jamón ibérico.
Afternoon
Spend some time relaxing by the beach or the infinity pool, then hit the spa. You can indulge in a massage or facial, sweat out the toxins in the infrared sauna and steam room and, if you’re wellness-curious, head up to the RoseBar for a cryotherapy session. Afterward, assuming you can pry yourself from the spa, pop into Agora for a little retail therapy. The shop is extremely well curated, with chic clothes, jewelry and accessories by local and international designers lining the shelves.
Evening
Head to the yoga studio for a sound-healing meditation, followed by a sunset ritual—where guests give thanks for the elements and release what no longer serves them—down by the beach. Mental load lightened, you can freshen up for dinner at The Beach Caves, followed by a nightcap at Bar Secreto or a fit of dancing on the sand.
Know Before You Go
Getting There
Six Senses Ibiza is on a secluded cove on the northern side of the island. It takes about 35 minutes to get there by car from Ibiza Airport (IBZ). You could prearrange a car transfer, but it’s easy to get a taxi or rideshare at the airport. If you’re staying for more than a few days and want to be able to explore the island, it’s a good idea to rent a car.
Tech Specs
The Wi-Fi is free and works even down at the beach. Through the Six Senses app, you can sign up for activities, order room service, request housekeeping or valet service, book spa treatments and more.
When To Go
Summer is peak season, when the weather is hottest and the prices are highest. For milder weather and lower rates, go in the shoulder seasons (i.e., spring or fall). The hotel closes from early November through April.
What’s Included
Breakfast, the first round of the minibar, access to the spa, and activities such as yoga, Pilates, sound-healing meditations and sunset rituals.
What’s Around
Not much—and that’s why people who want to unplug choose to stay on the undeveloped northern side of the island. If you do want some excitement, the main town (also called Ibiza) is about 30 minutes away. Las Dalias, the big hippie market that’s been a fixture since the 1950s, is about 25 minutes away.
The resort’s infinity pool offers the ultimate in rest and relaxation.
