Grand Velas Los Cabos, located right off the tourist corridor, puts everything right at your fingertips. The second you step into the towering lobby of this all-inclusive Mexican resort, you’re presented with options, from seven different dining outlets to a robust schedule of recreational activities. Whether you want an eight-course tasting menu from an award-winning chef or poolside tuna ceviche, a paint-and-wine session or a yoga class under a palapa, it’s all here. And it’s all included.

There are even three separate infinity pools, cascading down the cliffside to a rocky stretch of beach, and 11 different room categories. It’s hard to get bored with everything you could ever want, but if you do, there are plenty of off-property tours and excursions available. Cabo San Lucas is just 20 minutes away.

Stay here if: You’re traveling with little kids and just want to park it somewhere for a week—and not make a single decision until it’s time to book your ride back to the airport.

Calling Grand Velas a family-friendly resort doesn’t begin to describe the way this property caters to its youngest guests. There’s a baby concierge on staff who will set up your room prior to your arrival with the obvious crib and high chair, sure, plus thoughtful extras like a step stool for the bathtub and books for bedtime. Beyond your room, there are family pools, a splash pad, kids and teens clubs, and cute activities like mini spa nights, when children can put cucumbers on their eyes and get their toenails painted.

Head to Cabrilla for some poolside tuna ceviche.

But grown-ups won’t feel left out. The adults-only, infinity-edge Serenity Pool feels as if it flows straight into the crashing waves below. And the number of free activities on offer is almost overwhelming. Every day, there are at least 10 different things to do, from yoga classes and wine tastings to arts and crafts and Ping-Pong tournaments. If they don’t work for your schedule, you can always book private sessions at different times.

Of course, one of the great joys of an all-inclusive stay is not having to decide a thing, so if you’d rather just sit by the pool, that’s an option, too.

The Serenity Pool is especially tranquil at sunrise.

    Cardmember Benefits

Grand Velas Los Cabos is a member of The Edit by Chase Travel℠, a collection of hand-picked hotels with premium benefits for Chase Sapphire Reserve cardmembers. Customers who book a stay at Grand Velas Los Cabos through The Edit will earn 3 points per dollar and receive special benefits, outlined below.

    Room Upgrade, If Available

You could get a one-category upgrade at check-in to a similarly sized room but on a higher floor with better views.

    Welcome Amenity

A small bottle of house mezcal with grapefruit slices and chili salt; a mixed fruit bowl.

    A $200 Property Credit

You’ll get $50 toward the spa per adult (do the hydrotherapy ritual at least once); $50 toward the wine catalog (plan for dinner at Velas 10, which has one of the larger wine cellars in Mexico and tons of special bottles that cost extra); and $100 toward the Experiences menu. We recommend booking a babysitter so you can have a private dinner on the beach with a four-course menu and live violin or saxophone music.

    The Room

Every room at Grand Velas is an ocean-view suite. Even the entry-level Ambassador Suites start at more than 1,000 square feet, and feature dedicated seating areas and large terraces overlooking the ocean. When a question or (gasp!) a decision comes to mind, your personal concierge is available to answer questions and make reservations for meals and activities.

Best of all, Ambassador king and double-queen suites can connect to form two-bedroom Family Suites (perfect for families). If you’re splurging, the room to book is the Grand Class Suite—a 1,600-square-foot stunner with a plunge pool on the terrace. Whichever you choose, expect a stylishly appointed space, with modern furniture and decor in soothing tones of blue, beige and gray.

    The Features

Don’t miss: The three infinity pools cascading down to the beach—the centerpiece of the hotel. Join the party in the middle level, where guests play water polo and Ping-Pong. Or for something more chill, grab a first-come, first-served cabana at the top level or a lounge chair at the adults-only lower level, which hovers right over the ocean and features a swim-up bar.

Favorite features: The free, en suite minibars that are replenished daily—don’t sleep on the candy bars in the fridge!

Can’t stop thinking about: The room-length Sensation Pool at the spa, with waterfalls, bubble beds and hot tub areas. Walking into this space feels like arriving on another (very peaceful) planet.

    The Lowdown

Cabrilla serves fresh-from-the-sea ceviches and tostadas.

The family-friendly amenity that’s really for the parents: A kids club that stays open until 11 p.m.

What everyone’s drinking: Lots of margaritas and mojitos (or Champagne with your choice of fruit “caviar” from the welcome cart at check-in).

Staying in or going out? Guests here are staying in—there’s simply too much to do to bother going anywhere else.

What’s on the speakers? Instrumental covers of pop songs and club music by the pool.

Highly specific reason you’d come here: To have the perfect family vacation with barely any planning (or packing, thanks to the aforementioned baby concierge).

    The Perfect Stay

    Rise and Shine

Wake up early and walk along the beach at sunrise. Afterward, grab a coffee or a smoothie at Amat Café and watch the pool area come alive.

    Morning

Work off yesterday’s indulgences with an early-morning yoga or Pilates class under the palapa. Then retox at Azul, where you’ll find a breakfast buffet with everything from omelets and pancakes to yogurt parfaits and pastries (plus a mimosa bar). Next, snag a seat by the top-level family pool and relax while the kids wade in the shallow area.

    Afternoon

Have an order of tuna ceviche from Cabrilla delivered to your lounger, then jump in the pool and get a margarita from the swim-up bar. When you’ve had enough sun, drop the children at the kids club and hit the hydrotherapy circuit at the spa (just make sure to book in advance). Once you’re fully revitalized, check the schedule for the afternoon and participate in a fun, family-oriented activity, like an art workshop, cooking class or Ping-Pong tournament.

    Evening

Leave the kids with a babysitter and head to Sky Bar for a sunset cocktail on the terrace. Since you’re in Mexico, after all, reserve a table on the terrace at Frida for dinner. Be sure to order the duck-confit tamales.

    Late Night

End the night with a drink at Koi Bar, which has live music and dancing until 1 a.m.

At Grand Velas, fun is at your fingertips.

    Know Before You Go

    Getting There

The nearest airport is in San José del Cabo (SJD), about a 35-minute drive away. Ride-hailing services can’t pick you up at the airport, and taxis can be inconsistent, so book a transfer ahead of time through the resort.

    Tech Specs

You could theoretically work from the pool (the Wi-Fi is strong throughout the resort), but that’s not the vibe at Grand Velas—everyone here is very much on vacation. Rooms feature outlets by the bed and Bluetooth alarm clocks with USB ports. It’s not high tech, but you’ll have everything you need (including a few too many light switches).

    When to Go

High season, which runs from mid-December to March, means higher rates and a busier resort, but there’s a lot going on because of the holidays. The low season goes from August to October and brings lower prices, but also potential hurricanes.

    What’s Included

Grand Velas is an all-inclusive resort, so pretty much everything is included. Some exceptions are spa treatments, special wine and liquor, transportation and third-party tours such as yacht excursions, surfing lessons and ocean safaris in Cabo Pulmo.

    What’s Around

Grand Velas sits right off the highway that runs through Cabo’s hotel corridor. Cabo San Lucas is just 20 minutes away, and the artsy town of San José del Cabo is about a 20-minute drive, too.
