Yoon Ahn—the cofounder and creative director of Tokyo-based brand AMBUSH—was born in Seoul. She grew up between South Korea and Seattle before finding her way to Japan, where she began designing jewelry and clothing, and emerged as a star of the city’s burgeoning 2000s streetwear scene.
An “avid traveler,” Ahn now collaborates on fashion projects around the world, seeking out hotels with warm hospitality and great room service in every city along the way. She looks forward to whenever work brings her to Seoul, the 24/7 fashion hub that made our list of must-take trips for 2025. “I love the energy and constant evolution of the place,” she says. “I feel at home here.” Now you can, too, with Ahn’s list of her favorite places to stay in Seoul.

“I loved the pillows so much that I bought them to bring home with me,” Ahn says. Beyond the opulent bedding, Ahn appreciates the traditional Korean sauna, state-of-the-art fitness club and private library at this serene oasis nestled beside the city’s Myeong-dong shopping district. “It’s perfect for couples or a solo traveler who wants to pamper themselves. The location is near the historic part of the city, Gyeongbokgung Palace and Insa-dong. It’s one of my favorite areas to walk around.”

“When staying here, I’ve loved waking up early, taking a quiet sunrise walk up Namsan hill with a coffee and soaking in the contrast between nature and the urban landscape below. I love The Shilla’s mixture of historic elegance and luxury—La Yeon, an award-winning Korean restaurant, serves royal court cuisine with a modern twist and is worth the visit. And the fitness center at the hotel is one of the best.”

“There is an indoor infinity pool on the 24th floor that’s well known. But not many people realize it’s one of the best sunset-viewing spots in Gangnam. There are floor-to-ceiling panoramic views from the rooms. Go visit during golden hour.”

Josun Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Seoul Gangnam
Gangnam-gu
Ahn recommends Josun Palace for travelers interested in art and design, thanks to its impressive art collection and bold, geometric interiors. The service here is impeccable, and the traditional full-body scrubs at the wellness club are not to be missed. Rooms start on the 27th floor, which means panoramic views of the surrounding Gangnam neighborhood.
