Inside the Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club at Phoenix Airport (PHX): Local Food, Custom Cocktails and an Airstream-Equipped Indoor Patio
Chase Travel
The newly opened Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club at Phoenix Airport (PHX) is bringing the Arizona desert indoors. The cozy space features a hyperlocal food and beverage experience, a wraparound bar, private working spaces and an indoor patio complete with an actual refurbished Airstream. Self-serve and made-to-order food, plus beer, wine and cocktails are all included.
Inside the Lounge
In addition to a full-service bar, the lounge has quiet spaces for working or relaxing, two private bathrooms and an indoor “patio” anchored by an iconic silver Airstream.
Head to the indoor “patio” for an open view into the terminal, or find a cozy spot in the quiet working area hidden behind reception and connect to the free Wi-Fi to download a movie or two for the flight.
Just inside from the patio, the left side of the bar offers, arguably, the best seats in the house. On one side, you’ll watch planes take off and land, and on the other, you’ll see the PHX Sky Train whizz by the terminal through the terminal’s large glass windows.
Food and Drinks
Save room to taste your way through the robust lineup of breakfast and lunch/dinner items, including plated dishes from the servery or made-to-order dishes from the curated menu by local chef Stephen Jones of the larder and the delta, which you can order directly from the Airstream.
For breakfast, choose from sweet potato kale hash, vegan chorizo scramble or prickly pear yogurt from the self-serve menu, or head to the patio for a vegan grain bowl or a made-to-order breakfast taco topped with Southern pepper sauce.
At 11:00 a.m., the menu changes over to all-day fare, and you’ll find classics like a cheddar-and-prosciutto grilled cheese alongside roasted piquillo pepper mozzarella, a poblano pepper corn chowder and a curry quinoa salad topped with roasted carrots and pumpkin seeds. Or you can visit the Airstream for air-fried cauliflower with a spicy buffalo sauce and a smoked blue cheese garnish, plus a turkey-and-mushroom wrap with peppered feta, served alongside a stack of potato chips.
The beverage menu is just as extensive. You can order cocktails, wine, beer, plus seasonal juices and soft drinks. Two of the lounge’s signature cocktails include the Cardinal Cooler (a nod to the state’s NFL team made with fruit juice, orange cognac and vodka) and the Desert Jewel (a smoky gin-based citrus drink). Wines are curated by Parcelle, a New York-based wine bar and shop, and vodka, gin and bourbon cocktails can all be made with local spirits. For a caffeine kick, there are coffee selections from Press Coffee, a local brand that’s been operating in the area since 2008.
Art and Design
The lounge’s design draws inspiration from the indoor-outdoor lifestyle popular in Phoenix, with nods to the region’s red-hued desert landscape. Walls are made of fluted wood wall paneling, and open shelves feature travel-themed books and ceramics. The main focal point of the lounge is the curved marble bar, an ideal spot to watch the planes take off as you sip on a drink.
Artwork has been curated by the JPMorgan Chase Art Collection, as is the case with all Chase Sapphire Lounge locations, with pieces depicting the natural landscape. The bathrooms are filled with forest-green ceramic tiles and gold light fixtures. They’re also stocked with amenities like toothbrushes in case you forgot to pack yours or need to quickly freshen up before your flight.
Chase Sapphire Reserve cardmembers, don’t forget to snag a custom, complimentary luggage tag before you leave the lounge. The tag features a colorful, desert-inspired design by local Arizonian artist, SLOTH (Timmy Ham), complete with a Saguaro cactus and lightning bolt, and can be collected while supplies last. The hand-drawn license plates on the Airstream are also designed by SLOTH and evoke the palette of colorful Arizona sunrises and sunsets.
