    Baggage delay insurance reimburses you for emergency purchases of essential items when your baggage is delayed for a specific period, usually six hours or more, during travel. Baggage delays by what’s called a “common carrier”—usually define as any motorized land, water or air conveyance licensed for the transportation of passengers for hire—may be covered in many cases.

    Among the many potential benefits of a business credit card, some cards come with complimentary baggage delay insurance. Typically, you need to purchase the travel fare with the eligible card or rewards to receive the benefit.

    What is covered and not covered with Chase Ink baggage delay insurance

    If you have a Chase Ink Business credit card, you may get baggage delay insurance as a benefit. Chase Ink Business Preferred®, Chase Ink Business Premier®, Chase Ink Business Unlimited® and Chase Ink Business Cash® credit cards come with this benefit. This insurance reimburses you up to $100 per day for certain essential items when your bags are delayed by six hours or more, and it covers a maximum of five days.

    Clothing, toiletries and cell phone charging cables are typically considered essential items. You’re limited to one charging cable per claim.

    The coverage doesn’t include these items:

    • Contact lenses
    • Hearing aids
    • Eyeglasses
    • Artificial teeth
    • Dental bridges
    • Prosthetic devices
    • Tickets
    • Documents and valuable papers
    • Money, securities and checks
    • Business samples

    How to file a Chase Ink baggage delay claim

    The first step to filing a claim is to request a claim form from the Benefit Administrator. You can find this information in your Guide to Benefits or by calling the phone number on the back of your credit card.

    You’ll need to return the completed claim form along with the following documentation:

    • Copy of travel itinerary
    • Written confirmation of baggage delay from travel carrier
    • Copy of credit card statement with the fare
    • Copy of settlement or denial from common carrier
    • Receipts for purchased essential items
