Applying for Global Entry in New York City? The city has a few locations where applicants can complete the interview portion of the application process. At times, appointment availability is limited, but there are a few ways applicants may be able to get an interview at their preferred location.
Below, we’ve outlined some things to know about applying for Global Entry in New York.
The Global Entry application process in New York
The first step to become a member of this Trusted Traveler Program (TTP) is to create a TTP account, submit your Global Entry application online and pay the application fee. You can usually get this fee reimbursed if you have a credit card that offers Global Entry reimbursement.
Applicants that receive conditional approval—a status that means your application has advanced to the next step in the process—can book an appointment to complete their in-person interview. Interviews are conducted by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at enrollment centers located throughout the U.S., including a few locations in the New York City area.

At the Customs House, enter to the right of the main entrance and inform security that you have a Global Entry interview.

Walk-in interviews for Global Entry in New York
Unfortunately, enrollment centers don’t usually accept walk-in applications. However, the Enrollment on Arrival program is a potential alternative for some applicants.
This program allows eligible applicants to complete the in-person interview when they arrive in the U.S. on an international flight. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Have conditional approval on their Global Entry application.
- Possess the required documentation for the Global Entry interview.
- Are returning from an international flight to a participating U.S. airport.
As of February 2025, JFK is the only New York City airport that offers Enrollment on Arrival.
When clearing Customs after your flight, alert the CBP officer that you want to complete your Global Entry interview. A CBP officer may be able to conduct the interview during the standard inspection process. Interviews are subject to availability.
How to schedule a Global Entry interview in New York
If your application is conditionally approved, your TTP account will likely provide you with instructions for scheduling an interview.
During peak times, appointment availability may be limited at your preferred enrollment center. Check back regularly to catch any appointment cancellations that may occur. New TTP appointments in New York City are posted at 9:00 a.m. local time on the first Monday of every month.
Additionally, there are other options that can help expedite a Global Entry application, including apps that assist with finding appointments.
