Time to read min

    Quick insights

    • An online application is the first step to applying for the Global Entry program.
    • The application process includes an in-person interview at an enrollment center.
    • Houston's enrollment center is George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH).

If you're applying for Global Entry, you'll need to complete the interview portion of the process in person. While the interview itself is usually around 15 minutes, there may be times when there's a months-long wait for an appointment slot. You have a few potential options if you are trying to get an earlier appointment at your preferred location.

Here are a few things to know about applying for Global Entry in Houston.

The Global Entry application process in Houston

The first part of the Global Entry application process is to create a Trusted Traveler Program (TTP) account, submit an application online and pay the non-refundable $120 application fee. Applicants may be able to get this fee reimbursed if they have a credit card that offers Global Entry reimbursement.

Eligible applicants will receive conditional approval, a status that indicates their application can proceed to the next part of the process, before they can schedule an in-person interview. Interviews are conducted by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at enrollment centers throughout the U.S., including a location in Houston.

    Houston enrollment center

Global Entry applicants in Houston may interview at the following location:

    IAH
    Terminal E
    3870 North Terminal Road
    Houston, TX 77032

CBP provides a current list of Texas Global Entry enrollment centers, which includes operating hours and contact information.

    Walk-in interviews in Houston

Generally, CBP enrollment centers do not allow walk-in interviews. The Enrollment on Arrival program is a potential alternative for eligible applicants.

This program allows applicants to complete their interview when they arrive at a participating U.S. airport from an international flight. Applicants must have conditional approval, bring the required documentation for the Global Entry interview and arrive at a participating airport during operating hours.

In Houston, there are two airports that offer Enrollment on Arrival as of February 2025:

    • IAH
    • William P. Hobby Airport (HOU)

CBP keeps a list of current Enrollment on Arrival airports.

When going through Customs at IAH or HOU, let a CBP officer know that you would like to complete your Global Entry interview. Interviews are typically conducted during the standard inspection process. Enrollment on Arrival interviews are subject to availability.

How to schedule a Global Entry interview in Houston

After receiving conditional approval, applicants are provided with instructions for scheduling an interview through their TTP account.

At times, there may be limited appointment availability at IAH. If this happens, you can check back often for openings. Sometimes new spots open up as cancellations occur. In Houston, new appointments are released on the first Monday of every month at 9:00 a.m. local time.

There are a few other ways to help manage your Global Entry application, including apps that help you track appointment availability.

    In summary

All Global Entry applicants must first submit an online application. If they receive conditional approval, they can schedule an appointment for the in-person interview at an enrollment center. In Houston, the enrollment center is located in Terminal E of IAH.

Applicants can also complete their interview through the Enrollment on Arrival program when arriving from an international flight at participating airports. As of February 2025, eligible applicants in Houston may use this option when they clear Customs at IAH or HOU. Interviews through Enrollment on Arrival are subject to availability.
