    Quick insights

    • Getting Global Entry status starts with an online application.
    • The next step is scheduling an interview at a Global Entry enrollment center.
    • Boston-Logan International Airport (BOS) is the only enrollment center in Boston.

For Global Entry applicants, getting an appointment spot for the in-person interview at an enrollment center can be a challenging part of the application process. In Boston, applicants have one enrollment center where they can complete their interview. Sometimes appointment availability is limited, but applicants may have a few options if they want to get an interview.

In this article, we’ll cover a few things to know about applying for Global Entry in Boston.

The Global Entry application process in Boston

The first step to apply for Global Entry status is to create a Trusted Traveler Program (TTP) account, submit an application online and pay the non-refundable fee. You may be able to get reimbursed for this fee if you have a credit card that offers reimbursement for Global Entry application fees.

If you receive conditional approval on your application, that means you can now schedule your interview. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) conducts interviews at enrollment centers throughout the U.S., including in Boston.

    Boston enrollment center locations

Refer to CBP for an up-to-date list of Massachusetts Global Entry enrollment centers.

Walk-in interviews for Global Entry in Boston

Although walk-in interviews aren’t typically an option for many applicants, there is an alternative way to get an interview through Enrollment on Arrival.

With this program, eligible applicants can generally complete their in-person interview upon their return to the U.S. from an international flight. Eligibility requirements include:

As of January 2025, Boston-Logan International Airport offers Enrollment on Arrival. Refer to CBP’s current list of airports that offer Enrollment on Arrival for the most up-to-date information.

When you go through Customs, alert a CBP officer that you would like to complete your Global Entry interview. If there’s availability, an officer will conduct the interview during the standard inspection process. Note that applicants are not guaranteed an interview through Enrollment on Arrival.

How to schedule a Global Entry interview in Boston

When you receive conditional approval, you’ll be provided with instructions on how to schedule an interview through your TTP account. Follow the instructions to find and book an available appointment. Note that every applicant has to complete a separate interview.

Sometimes you may find that appointments are limited at the enrollment center. Checking for appointment openings periodically may be helpful as cancellations can occur. New appointments in Boston are released at 9:00 a.m. local time on the first Monday of every month.

There are a few other ways to help expedite the Global Entry enrollment process, including apps that help with finding appointment openings.

    In summary

Once you’ve received conditional approval on your Global Entry application, it’s time to schedule the in-person interview. Boston-Logan International Airport may be a convenient location for applicants located in the Boston area. Applicants may want to schedule an interview at this airport or use Enrollment on Arrival when returning from an international flight.
