Course: What is credit?

8 minute read

How business credit scores are calculated

Similar to personal credit bureaus, companies that evaluate business credit collect payment information from sources such as vendors, banks and business credit card issuers. Different bureaus employ different scoring models, but for the most part, they look at the following factors:

  • Payment history with creditors and vendors
  • Age of your oldest financial account
  • Size of your company and how long it’s been in business
  • How you use your credit
  • Established trade relationships
  • Chances of success or failure in your industry
