Fortunately, the U.S. State Department has one of the simplest and most progressive policies in the world for correcting gender markers. Since June 2021, medical certification is no longer required to change one's gender marker on their passport. Transgender people should consider updating their U.S. passport book or card immediately, and use that document as primary identification.
